this document will become extended and form the basis of my project.
i am planing to remaster and enhance a clasic film , which is out of copyright as part of an internet orientated team.
i need
1>law us law states
-befor 1978=28 years unless renewed
then it is 70 years. so how about
uk/europe/rest of world movies?
2>what movie
-metropolis seems a good choice.
any ideas????
3>helpers
-3d artists (2 people are intrested.
flexible with software)
2d artists, composers, voice actors?
any ideas?????
tasks
1>all digital project
-cgi useing a free software blender.
it is fully featured.www.blender.nl
indevidual and batch processing of
frames useing Gimp linux software.

Metropolis would be a bad choice. Somebody in the UK I think bought the rights to it about 10 years ago ... thus it is available on VHS in a 'full length' print.
Also, there was an horrific colourised version with a Queen soundtrack and cut to about 90 minutes.
You are walking onto a minefield unless you do it for personal pleasure and non-profit.
How about un-special editioning Star Wars as a pet project ;-)

BUT THEY CAN ONLY BUY THE REMAINDER OF THE COPYRIGHT

I agree, i have seen it as part of my old college course.

i am prepared to do all the relavent legal resurch. i feel that i would be wasting my time if i couldnt reopen a clasic film for a new generation

calling on so many people for help, i wouldent want to make us all legaly liable, be such a shame.
